Our Schoolyard program is for 4 year-olds!

In AYSO Schoolyard Soccer, 4 year-olds get to play soccer in a developmentally-appropriate program. The children learn soccer skills like kicking, dribbling, and throw-ins in a low-pressure and fun setting, while still perfecting fundamental motor skills. The program transitions into small-sided game play to gradually expose children to the game without the pressure to win.

Season length:
Our Schoolyard program runs in the Fall for 8 weeks (Saturdays only). There is no weekday practice. 

Session length:
45 mins on average 

Team Structure: 
Jamboree style - teams are formed on a weekly basis depending on how many players attend a given session

Player Uniform and Equipment: Jersey, Shorts, Socks are provided by the the Region with your registration fee. Shoes and shin guards, covered by socks are mandatory at all games. Soccer cleats are highly recommended.

In Schoolyard Soccer, children get to play soccer in an age-specific program, and you, the parents, get to participate with them. We progress to less parent participation on the field and let them play as we move through the season.

The Schoolyard Soccer program combines two different formats:  Jamboree and One with one.  In AYSO soccer, a jamboree means that teams are formed on a weekly basis depending on how many players attend a given session. One with one refers to the concept that each player will have a parent (or other adult) working with them on the field.  The goal is to introduce children to the beautiful game of soccer in a low-pressure setting and eventually have less parents on the field.
